Welcome to Subtle Sparks

Hi, I’m Gunnar and I like ideas.

A rare picture of me in the wild, proving that cartwheels are more interesting than simply walking.

I’ve spent a bit of time in both science and the humanities, and it continues to surprise me how little crosstalk there is across the artificial gap that separates them.

So, at Subtle Sparks, we'll blend ideas from science, philosophy, psychology, technology, and literature to try to make sense of this crazy thing called life.

Let me make you a promise: your inbox is sacred. No spam, just a burst of inspiration delivered straight to you. Subscribing means you won't miss a beat, and it also helps me gauge interest and keeps my motivational fire burning.

Wait. Who am I?

I'm someone who never outgrew the 'why?' phase most kids go through. Somehow, that landed me degrees in biology and the philosophy of science. I'm based in a little country on the Western edge of Europe and try to look at the world through a lens of perpetual curiosity.

By day, I work in science communication, and in the cracks of daily life, I occasionally turn my pen to fiction. I'm also an inveterate pacer, routine rebuilder, and self-doubter – navigating the twists and turns of life as we all do.

Share Subtle Sparks

  • Feed it back to me: Your thoughts matter! Comment, like, and let me know what resonates with you. This space is not just about ideas; it's about the vibrant community we're building together.
